Thinking of Buying an Air Conditioner? Don’t Wait Too Long
Every year around this time, I get the same question from customers walking into our stores:
“Should we buy an AC now, or wait for some better deal later?”
This year, my answer is very clear—if you’re planning to buy an air conditioner, buying early makes a lot of sense.
Over the last few months, the cost of manufacturing air conditioners has gone up steadily. One of the biggest reasons is the sharp rise in copper prices. Copper is a key material used in compressors, condensers, and internal piping, and its global prices have been climbing consistently.
Along with copper, manufacturers are also dealing with higher costs of compressors, electronic components, refrigerants, and transportation. All these increases add up. Until now, most brands have tried to absorb a portion of these costs to keep prices stable for consumers. But realistically, this can’t continue forever.
From what we see in the market, price revisions in the coming months are very likely.
Right now, however, buyers still have an advantage. Air conditioners are available at current price levels, and many brands are offering genuine benefits—easy EMI options, cashback on select bank cards, and in some cases, free installation. These offers reduce the overall cost and make today’s purchase far more attractive than what we may see later in the season.
At the retail level, demand is already picking up as customers try to stay ahead of the summer rush. Many are choosing to advance their purchase rather than risk paying more later. This is a pattern I’ve seen repeatedly over the last 30 years whenever raw material costs rise across the electronics industry.
Based on experience, one thing is certain: when input costs keep increasing, the impact eventually reaches the customer.
So, if an AC is already on your list for this summer, my advice is simple—don’t delay. Buying now helps you lock in current prices and make the most of the offers available today.
